Why is the wood kiln-dried before it is processed into shavings? How do you ensure that the antibacterial bedding products are perfectly safe for the health of horses and other animals?

The wood must be kiln-dried before it is processed to reduce its moisture content to below 19%. All Royal Wood Shavings products undergo this drying process to obtain wood that has moisture at an optimal level of between 10 and 15%. This process eliminates bacteria and moulds that can ruin the shavings and greatly affect your animals’ health.
In addition to low moisture content, look for screened and dust-free products made from primary-processed soft wood.
Consult the “How to Choose” page to know what things to consider when choosing your shavings.
